This advanced regional course is available to students who have successfully completed the Child Development Course sequence at their home high school. The course is designed to develop the skills required to plan and implement an early childhood program. Students will apply their learning experiences about children through participation in a school-based preschool and possibly an internship in a community child care facility. Interaction with parents, including conferences, meetings, phone and letter communications will be part of the course. Career opportunities related to child care at the associate and baccalaureate degree level are explored. Students should be reading at 8th Grade level or above.  Students must also be able to work in a group setting as well as individually and must be willing to take on a leadership role with same-age classmates along with pre-school age children.  Successful completion of this course is the basis for the Kishwaukee College Child Care Technology Certificate and Associate Degree (A.A.S.) Program.  ECE 112 is the course for which students may earn college credit for Early Childhood Education 2.
