Criminal Justice 1 & 2
Location: KEC Central
2 High School Credits, each course 
12 College Dual Credits/Dual Enrollment Available
Criminal Justice 2 Prerequisite: "C" grade average and/or consent of instructor.

This is a two-year program that introduces students to the various aspects of the Criminal Justice system. Course content includes basic principles of government, the constitution, and the courts and legal system.  Other topics covered are telecommunications, patrolling, crime lab techniques, investigation procedures, search and arrest techniques, fingerprinting & human relations and police ethics.  Traffic accident investigation and driving under the influence enforcement are taught along with the Illinois vehicle code, report writing and community oriented policing.  Students should be able to read at the 8th grade level.  They should be able to follow multiple-step directions and work independently and in team situations.  A criminal background check may be done on all students.  Students enrolling in this course are not allowed to have any convictions.  Coursework will provide an introduction to the community college program.  Successful completion of this course is the basis for the Kishwaukee College Criminal Justice Associate Degree (A.A.S.) Program.  CRJ 101, CRJ 109, CRJ 152 & CRJ 160 are the courses for which students may earn college credit.
