The Kishwaukee Education Consortium (KEC) is an association of area high schools whose activities are closely articulated with Kishwaukee College. The KEC provides for basic education and vocational-technical training for employment.

Currently, the KEC is made up of the following five core high schools: DeKalb, Genoa-Kingston, Hiawatha, Rochelle, and Sycamore.

At this time, KEC classes are housed at Kishwaukee College, KEC Central Campus, DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport, Hair Professionals Career College, Sycamore Public Safety Building and the Construction Site. Public sector, private industry, and business sites are also used as training locations for some classes.

PARTNERSHIP FOR COLLEGE & CAREERS SUCCESS

Articulated Credit - A student receiving a B average in a PCCS course is eligible for credit at Kishwaukee College when he/she enrolls in the related Kishwaukee College program within 18 months after graduation. After completion of 15 credit hours at the college, the student must contact the Kishwaukee College registrar to obtain the credit. The following PCCS Courses are eligible for articulated credit in 2008-2009: Advanced Horticulture, Computer Maintenance I & II, Computer Assisted Drafting, Green House Management, Health Occupations II, Introduction to Horticulture, and Welding Technology.  (Fire Science & Graphic Communications are articulated through other Community Colleges.)

Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment – This allows students to be enrolled at Kishwaukee College and their home high school at the same time. Therefore, the student receives college credit as well as high school credit. Enrollment is taken care of through the KEC. The following PCCS Courses are eligible for dual credit/dual enrollment in 2008-2009: Aviation Flight, Auto Mechanics Technology, Business & Information Technology, Collision Repair Technology, Computer Information/Maintenance Systems, Construction Trades 1, Criminal Justice, Diesel Power/Heavy Equipment Technology, Early Childhood Education, Health Occupations 1, Manufacturing Engineering Technology Academy, and Welding Technology.
