Auto Mechanics Technology 1
Location: Kishwaukee College  
2 High School Credits  
2 College Dual Credits/Dual Enrollment Available

This course offers classroom and laboratory instruction in basic automotive mechanics to begin preparation for entry into the field of  automotive mechanics technology.  Students are introduced to fundamentals of safety practices, use of hand and power tools. Systems covered include mechanical and electrical systems.  In addition to hands-on work, students will be required to use a text for reading, writing, and computers for online assignments.  They will be using some algebra concepts and measurements in both the English and Metric systems.  They should be able to follow multiple-step directions and work independently and in team situations.  Successful completion of this course is the basis for the Kishwaukee College Basic and Advanced Automotive Technology Certificates and Automotive Technology Associate Degree (A.A.S.) Program. AMT 103 is the course for which students may earn college credit.  Students need to provide their own safety goggles and writing materials.

Auto Mechanics Technology 2

Location: Kishwaukee College
2 High School Credits 
8 College Dual Credits/Dual Enrollment Available
Prerequisite: "C" grade average and/or consent of instructor.

This advanced course allows students to use and add to the skills acquired in Auto Mechanics Technology l. Emphasis is placed on steering, suspension, brakes, and related systems. Information and skills needed to enter automotive mechanics related occupations or certificate / degree programs are stressed. Successful completion of this course is the basis for the  Kishwaukee College Basic and Advanced Automotive Technology Certificates and Automotive Technology Associate Degree (A.A.S.) Program. AMT 110 & AMT 120 are the courses for which students may earn college credit.  Students may to provide their own safety goggles and may have to provide their own transportation since this class meets Monday-Friday at 7:15 a.m. All Auto Technology courses are taught by an ASE Certified Instructor.
